Gender Violence- Definition and kinds

GENDER VIOLENCE- Definition and kinds

Violence against women is one of the most tangible manifestations of the economic, social, political and cultural inequalities that exist between men and women. Violence against women constitutes a violation of their human rights and fundamental freedoms, manifesting itself in numerous forms.

There are five types of abuse:
  1. Physical: This type is the most evident and includes any act that is not accidental that causes or can cause damage to the woman’s body. For instance: slapping, punching, beating, cutting, injuring, burning, killing…
  1. Psychological: This includes all behaviours which damage self-esteem or cause emotional suffering in a woman: threats, humiliations, forced obedience and trying to convince the victim that she is always guilty. Also: insults, controlling all exits of the house, public humiliations, putting down, controlling money, physical abuse of pets, isolating.
  1. Sexual: In this form of abuse the abuser forces the victim to have sex against their will.
  1. Economic: This occurs when the victim doesn’t have access to her money because the abuser controls it, even if she is economically independent.
  1. Social: This consists of the abuser isolating the woman from her family and friends by not allowing her to see or contact them. He might also force her to move far away from the city where they lived.

STOP GENDER VIOLENCE

Million of women in the world have suffered domestic violence from their husbands or couples and probably will exist women that live in the silence and they don't say nothing about it because of the fear.

In our country, is often seen in the news, in tv and the newspapers, a lot of women die
all years and people don't do nothing, they only continue shuted about it if they see something.
Apart from the troubles for the woman, children suffer them too.

Gender violence is a consequence of inequalities between men and women and there are five types
of domestic or gender violence, it can be:
1.Physical
2.Psychological
3.Social
4.Economic
5.Sexual

In our country last year only 3 of 51 women had alerted of violence before their die, this is an
horrible act and we don't have to go away to watch it. Spain is a developed country in which
society isn't concious about this problem and women who are suffering violence don't awake about
that because, the violence isn't only physical. Psychological is the most common although we don't
realize, usually the man says the woman that she has the blame and she is a bad person, he controls
her until she is sunken and then come the other types of violence, social, economic and sexual and
the last, PHYSICAL, we think that violence is only physical and it isn't so. Physical is the end,
when she is unable to say something.

We must stop and finish with this violence, the role of the woman in our society isn't take care of
children and do the houseworks, women are equals than men and they have the same rights than
them.

Which type of violence do you think that affect more to the woman?
In your opinion, what could we do to stop gender violence?

Well, now we're going to talk about gender violence. The term "gender violence" reflects the idea that violence often serves to maintain structural gender inequalities, and includes all types of violence against women, children, adolescents, gay and transgender people. This is the definition of gender violence.

From muy point of view for TVE cases of vender violence the judge give some months but I think that they hace to put some more

Mainly violence against women are the most usual situations but there are somes cases where there are violence against men. After there are somes types of violence:

-Physical: include any act that isn't accidental that causes or can cause damage to women's body.
-Psychological: cause emotional suffering in a woman.
-Sexual: the abuser forces the victim to have sex against their will.
-Economic: when the victimdoesn't have access to her money because the abuser controls it.
-Social: the abuser isolating the woman from her family and friends by not allowing her to see or contact them

Domestic Violence

GENDER VIOLENCE

Violence against women is one of the most tangible manifestations of the economic, social, political and cultural inequalities that exist between men and women. Violence against women constitutes a violation of their human rights and fundamental freedoms, manifesting itself in numerous forms and often causing grave physical and psychological consequences.

Here you have a video of gender violence where two women are living diferents lifes. The happy woman is living a good life but the other woman is living a bad life and his boyfriend or husband hit her all day. Finally he kill her. In this video we can see that 1 in 4 women fall victim to domestic violence in the UK and these are to many women. We have to stop it! For a better world.
016 is the number we have to phone if someone fall victom to this violence.

Domestic Violence

Domestic violence affects almost all of women, as there is someone in each of our lives suffering in a violent relationship. Whether you are a victim, or know someone that is, the goal is surviving and living a happy, healthy life beyond the violence.

If you are not a victim, it may be hard to imagine that people deliberately hurt the ones they claim to love. Victims have a hard time believing it as well. And so begins the cycle. Many victims leave their violent situation, only to return several times over for one reason, or another.

The Domestic Violence Cycle

Knowing the domestic violence cycle will help you understand what is going on in your relationship with your abuser.

As you look at this cycle, I hope you can look at it from your abuser's point of view...and remember that your abuser's only purpose in abusing you is to gain and maintain total control over you! This is NOT your fault!

The domestic violence cycle has three phases:

Tension building: As hard as you try, nothing you do is right, or good enough. Please be careful and try to defuse any situations. This is the time when your abuser is wanting to gain, or maintain control and is setting things up for the next phase of this cycle.

Battering: Every victims scariest moment. Again try hard to defuse the situation, and be careful!! Leaving is the most dangerous moment in a domestic violence situation, if you think you will live through this moment, plan to leave during the next phase. Otherwise, call the police now!!

Honeymoon: Your abuser may apologize, or blame you for what just took place in the previous phase. The abuser will act like things are normal, or be extra nice to insure that you won't report the abuse. The abuser may start making plans for something you have wanted, plans for the family, plans for the future...whatever the abuser thinks will keep you in this relationship.

Here, you have a song about domestic abuse:

SONG: Love The Way You Lie

Love The Way You Lie

Rihanna and Eminem

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

I can't tell you what it really is
I can only tell you what it feels like
And right now there's a steel knife
In my windpipe
I can't breathe
But I still fight
While I can fight
As long as the wrong feels right
It's like I'm in flight
High of a love
Drunk from the hate
It's like I'm huffing paint
And I love it the more that I suffer
I sufficate
And right before im about to drown
She resuscitates me
She fucking hates me
And I love it
Wait
Where you going
I'm leaving you
No you ain't
Come back
We're running right back
Here we go again
It's so insane
Cause when it's going good
It's going great
I'm Superman
With the wind in his bag
She's Lois Lane
But when it's bad
It's awful
I feel so ashamed
I snap

Who's that dude
I don't even know his name
I laid hands on her
I'll never stoop so low again
I guess I don't know my own strength

Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts
Just gonna stand there
And hear me cry
But that's alright
Because I love
The way you lie
I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

You ever love somebody so much
You can barely breathe
When you're with them
You meet
And neither one of you
Even know what hit 'em
Got that warm fuzzy feeling
Yeah them chills
Used to get 'em
Now you're getting fucking sick
Of looking at 'em
You swore you've never hit 'em
Never do nothing to hurt 'em
Now you're in each other's face
Spewing venom
And these words
When you spit 'em
You push
Pull each other's hair
Scratch, claw, bit 'em
Throw 'em down
